In 2003, after a drug overdose, Annie Lobert began a journey of healing and recovery to emotional, physical, and spiritual wholeness. She is a survivor of more than a decade of sex trafficking, working as an exotic dancer and a high-class escort prostitute in Hawaii, Minneapolis, and Las Vegas.
“The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of perdition assailed me;
the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me.
In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.”
—Psalm 18:4-6
Today, Annie is an internationally recognized expert and ministers to men and women in the commercial sex industry. She understands the traumatic psychological, emotional, and physical effects of choosing the sex industry as a job, only later to be trapped, beaten, and sold to the trafficker’s highest bidders.
She is also a survivor of post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence, sexual abuse, cancer, drug addiction, abortions, miscarriages, pornography, anorexia, and bulimia.
Annie decided to go back and reach those she left behind who were still working in Las Vegas as prostitutes. What started as a grass roots outreach to sex workers soon became a non-profit ministry called Hookers for Jesus. Their mission is the 3 H’s—to Hook (outreach), Help (housing), and Heal (restoration).
She reaches out to abused women while she educates leaders, organizations, and churches to minister to sex workers and sex trafficking victims.
No one is better suited to minister in any area than one who has been there and found the way out. No one can tell Annie, “Yeah, but you don’t understand,” because she does. God can use anyone who will place his/her life in His hands. To Him, it’s not about where you’ve been, but where you’re going.
RESCUER & REDEEMER, bless those like Annie who escape Hell, but run right back in to rescue the perishing. Thank You for providing salvation, redemption, and healing for all those who call on Your Name.
