While responding to someone’s worst day and working to put out a fire, a Kentucky firefighter was nearly run down by an accused drunk driver. After jumping out of the way, the firefighter flagged down a cop who made the stop, and the driver’s blood alcohol was three times the limit.
On the fire ground, we are trained to observe the smoke, assess the patient, and respond accordingly. Add to your pocket of tools the eyes for the back of your head. And watch out for your fellow responders, too.
